Hi there! My name is Rishi Shah and I'm a Spring '22 Purdue graduate, with a B.S. in Finance. Since freshman year of college, my goal was to go into consulting for my first full-time job. After 3 years of hard work, I was happy to break into the industry during the Fall 2021 term of my senior year. However, I realize that there are other college students/grads out there, trying to break into this industry as well. Hence, I created this podcast to aid them in their journey towards landing a consulting offer, whether it is an internship or a full-time role. This podcast will have episodes that cover tips & tricks that I used as a prospect, interviews with my colleagues in consulting, and what I am learning in my consulting career. In this episode, I talk about five academic myths that every college student attempting to break into the industry should know. They are the following:
1. You need a cumulative 3.5 GPA (or higher) to get a role in consulting.
2. You need to have super demanding leadership roles to get noticed by firms
3. You can't put classes or coursework on your resume when applying to firms
4. You need to intern at multiple brand name companies to get noticed by firms
5. You need to have multiple majors and minors to get noticed by firms
